Home-Listening task 4

Summary:

This video talks mainly about social media and the reasons why ordinary people move away from it because they get tired of being connected or realise that they don’t need social media to live. A clear example is how one of the girls who speaks during the video explains how it all started with a break up she had with her previous boyfriend, she left everything behind, and realised that human beings don’t need social media, neither uploading photos nor knowing what others are doing all the time.

The video tells us that a large percentage of people are hooked to a social network, but an even larger percentage prefer to stay away from social media because it does not attract them as much as others, they prefer to live a normal life without having to be enslaved by an electronic device. Personal comment:

In relation to the video and the perspective I have right now, I totally agree with the concept presented in the video. Since I have always thought that social networks are not necessary for the life of an ordinary person, don’t get me wrong I like instagram, youtube, tik-tok, but I consume it for the fact of seeing something specific or about something I like, I don’t upload many photos, I don’t upload stories and I’m not aware of what my friends and family upload. Something I really appreciate about social networks is that we can relive moments recorded or portrayed on the internet, I love that there is a backup of them because you never know when that video camera full of memories stops working or when that album of baby pictures gets damaged in an accident. I like technology but I don’t like that people become dependent on being connected 24/7 to a social network. (157 words)
